Welcome to the website of the Friends of the Midland Hotel, Morecambe. The purpose of the website is to raise world wide awareness of this unique and magnificent Grade 2* listed Art Deco building. The hotel is located in the seaside resort of Morecambe,
Lancashire on the North West coast of England.
The hotel was purchased in 2003 by Urban Splash.
Following a lengthy restoration, the Midland re-opened its doors on 1st June
2008.
On Wednesday 8th May 2009 the management of the hotel was taken over by English Lakes Hotels Ltd, and although Urban Splash still own the building ELH will be responsible for the day to day running of the hotel.

URBAN SPLASH DEVELOPMENT PLANS MORECAMBE CENTRAL PROMENADE
Urban Splash have submitted a planning application for the development of the Morecambe Central Promenade adjacent to the Midland Hotel. The development consists of seven blocks of buildings for mixed use, the majority use being private residential, each building rising to 6 storeys. The nearest block is sited extremely close ( a matter of a few metres ) to the Midland Hotel. This will severely restrict the views across the bay from most, if not all, of the hotel! The listed wall to the front of the hotel, although now not due to be demolished, according to the plans will be altered and repostioned. The wall and end gate piers were designed by Oliver Hill and were awarded Grade II listing.
The Friends of the Winter Gardens have arranged a public meeting. The theatre is opposite the proposed developent. We will be in attendance at the public meeting representing the Friends of the Midland Hotel. The meeting is to be be held at the Clarendon Hotel, Marine Road, Morecambe, LA4 4EP on Wednesday 14th April 2010 at 7pm.
The meeting has been held at short notice, because objections need to be submitted to Lancaster City Council by 22nd April 2010.
